Frequently Asked Questions

Does NetMon send my data anywhere?

No. NetMon is a local-first application. All network statistics, application names, and history are stored securely on your local disk. We do not collect or transmit your network usage data.

Why does NetMon request location permission?

On macOS, reading the name of the Wi-Fi network (SSID) you are currently connected to requires Location Services permission. This is an Apple privacy requirement. NetMon only uses this to label your data usage by network (e.g., "Home Wi-Fi" vs "Coffee Shop") and never tracks your physical location.

Does it work on Intel and Apple silicon Macs?

Yes. NetMon is shipped as a Universal Binary, meaning it runs natively and efficiently on both Intel processors and Apple silicon (M1/M2/M3) chips without Rosetta translation.

Are Windows and Linux versions coming?

Yes. NetMon is designed from the ground up to be cross-platform. While our current focus is polishing the macOS experience, Windows and Linux native versions are in active development.
